Clone Wars

The new animated series on cartoon network was foreshadowed as an unsuccessful new attempt at a cartoonish version of Star Wars.  After a shitty following for the animated movies, what else could be expected?  Fortunately for cartoon network, the Clone Wars animated series got an great turnout in regards to viewers of the premiere.

Viewers: 4 million viewers of the premiere at 9 pm on Friday.
This is huge, compared to the previous record held by Ben 10: Alien Force at 2.9 million viewers.

The Secret Saturdays was another that showed on friday, with 2 million viewers.  I’m assuming people only watched the Secret Saturdays while they waited anxiously for the new Star Wars show to come on, but the executives are still happy with the results.

“This is a great start for our fantasy-action-adventure series,” Stuart Snyder, president/COO of Turner Broadcasting’s animation, young adults and kids media group says. “I’m very pleased that fans and kids showed up to enjoy the two shows. There’s nice momentum from our new strategy” of programming themed nights.

I actually didn’t watch the cartoon as it looked pretty dumb to me, but according to the demographics, the show wasn’t meant for my age group anyways.  Since I’m not a Star Wars geek, I’m not all that interested in watching the show, even after hearing all the good news.  Besides, 4 million premiere viewers doesn’t mean the show got good reviews, or that anybody even liked it… it just means they watched the damn show.

I’ve been hearing more and more  about how good the show is though, so I’m starting to think I should actually check this out.

I happened across it about 10 minutes into the premiere. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would suggest anyone with an inkling of interest in Star Wars to check it out.
